DIETITIAN | NATUROPATH
OUR NATUROPATH SERVICE
Naturopathy is based on the principal that the body has the ability to heal itself. It uses a wide variety of natural modalities to support the mind, body and emotions through the healing process. Each consultation is unique as the practitioner will treat the patient individually not by addressing the symptoms or affected area but by treating them as a whole. Methods and tools used in a naturopathic treatment include:
- Herbal medicine to increase immunity and treat various illnesses
- Dietary and nutritional advice to prevent malnutrition and disease
- Menu planning to support the body and provide healthy balanced meals
- Bach flowers which support the emotional stability in times of healing and change
- The use of Iridology, which is an examination of the iris
The therapeutic relationship between a practitioner and patient is a significant factor in a naturopathic practice. The practitioner will not only encourage their patient to take responsibility for their health but they will also educate and motivate the patient to achieve optimal health and wellbeing.
OUR DIETITIAN SERVICE
Our Dietitians at South Yarra Spine & Sports Medicine (SYSSM) are trained to help you separate fact from fiction and give you practical advice to achieve your optimal self. We are trained to give food and nutrition advice to help improve your general health, or tailor plans for specific sporting activities.
During your initial appointment, we will talk through your medical conditions (if appropriate), symptoms you would like to resolve, work/family/training commitments, body composition goals and health/nutrition goals. We will then go through your current eating patterns. Using this background information, we will provide strategies to help achieve your goals and a meal plan to get you started.
This will be followed up with a review consultation, when we will discuss what strategies worked and which need refining. We may need to tweak your meal plan or you may choose to work on other aspects of your diet altogether.
